The life of businessman Louis Winthorpe III, who is running a rich company on Wall Street, changes abruptly after his bosses make an unusual bet. They believe that the company can be run by anyone, even the most notorious and uneducated rogue. For their experiment they find a wily street con artist named Billy Ray Valentine and offer him to take charge of the company.
