THE KINGS SPEECH

The story of King George VI of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, his impromptu ascension to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it. After the death of his father King George V and the scandalous abdication of King Edward VIII, Bertie is suddenly crowned King George VI of England. With his country on the brink of war and in desperate need of a leader, Bertie must overcome his debilitating speech impediment that he has had all his life. His wife arranges for him to see an eccentric speech therapist who helps him both find his voice and the confidence to sit on the throne.
