THE BOOK THIEF
Just before the Second World War breaks out, nine-year-old Liesel moves to her adoptive parents in Munich and learns to read there. Day by day she is becoming more and more obsessed with reading. Liesel even starts to steal books – the only joy she has in her life. Everything she learns from books helps her to understand what happens around her – the persecution of Jews, anti-fascist movement, humiliation and famine.
