Rising populations, climate change and higher commodity prices are placing the highest pressure ever on the regions’ agricultural sector. With a vast proportion of the population plying this industry and many more living along the poverty line, rising food prices in the face of supply shortages is threatening to explode into a full-blown food crisis and throw some countries into chaos.
