THE ASIAN CENTURY EP 7 TAIWAN

They are called the Strawberry Generation. Young Taiwanese, born in the 1980's who grew up as spoilt brats, raised by parents who made their fortunes thrived during Taiwan's economic miracle years. The straberries are much unlike their parents, who hard work and commitment helped grow Taiwan from one of the poorest countries in Asia to one of the wealthiest. The strawberries are said to be soft; they are good to look at but fragile. They lack the drive and aspirations of their parents. Host Brendon Fernandez examines whether Taiwan will wither or bloom in the hands of the Strawberry Generation.
