THE ISLANDERS
THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. The Dominican Republic occupies one part of an island that is divided into two nations; Haiti is on the other side. Santo Domingo the capital was the first town to be founded in the Americas, marking the beginning of the New World. Today the Republic is one of the world’s largest exporters of amber. In true tropical easy-go-lucky style have made sports and gaming in all their various forms the national pastime.
