Marc Ribot Ceramic Dog at Cully Jazz Festival
Marc Ribot (guitar) - Shahzad Ismaily (guitar, bass, electronic) - Ches Smith (drums, percussions); If you mention the project to jazz purists, you should expect strong reactions: the three members of the Ceramic Dog project see themselves as trouble makers, mavericks, loose cannons on the contemporary jazz scene. With guitarist Marc Ribot as their leader, the trio's live performances have the same potential as an unexploded hand grenade. Borrowing freely from hard-rock and experimenting with new sounds, Ceramic Dog released 'Your Turn' in 2013, their second album which put everyone in agreement: these musicians are definitely crazy, and their music, composed expressly to be performed live, makes absolutely no concession.
