The brand is known for designer Valentino Garavani’s trademark hue, “Valentino red,” his signature “V” logo, and dreamlike red carpet gowns. After 45 years in fashion, the designer retired in 2008 and passed the creative reigns of the house to design duo Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri who had worked under the maestro for years. Since their 2009 appointment, they have successfully continued Valentino’s legacy. In 2016, Maria Grazia Chiuri exited her role leaving Pierpaolo Piccioli as sole creative director.
