Designer's Cut
Schooled in both ballet and interior design, Thierry Mugler launched his namesake label in 1974 while dancing for the ballet troupe of the Rhine Opera. By the late 1970’s, his efforts turned entirely to fashion as he introduced such characters as showgirls, dominatrixes, glamour queens and femmes fatales to the runway. In 2011, fashion director Nicola Formichetti - known for working with the likes of Lady Gaga - took over as creative director, renaming the house simply “Mugler.” By 2014, David Koma had taken the reins at Mugler as creative director. Koma reimagines the ultra sexy aesthetic Mugler is known for to this day, and keeps his confident and glamorous clientele coming back for more!

The dance moves are just not natural to the girls and they want to participate in the choreographic process. David’s not used to having his methods questioned and we’re not sure his ego can handle the girl’s bad attitude. With only four days left before actually shooting the music video, will they actually reach a consensus and come up with something to shoot?

The designers will need to be ingenious and maintain their composure to get through these challenges. An accessory will be made from used bicycles (of which they must take apart themselves), an undergarment using discarded broken chairs and a wardrobe apparel piece using old umbrellas. But that’s not all as Indashio injects a bit of drama and chaos by introducing a few of his own surprises along the way. Special guests join Indashio in deciding who will be winning $25,0000 and crowned Design Genius.

Schooled in both ballet and interior design, Thierry Mugler launched his namesake label in 1974 while dancing for the ballet troupe of the Rhine Opera. By the late 1970’s, his efforts turned entirely to fashion as he introduced such characters as showgirls, dominatrixes, glamour queens and femmes fatales to the runway. In 2011, fashion director Nicola Formichetti - known for working with the likes of Lady Gaga - took over as creative director, renaming the house simply “Mugler.” By 2014, David Koma had taken the reins at Mugler as creative director. Koma reimagines the ultra sexy aesthetic Mugler is known for to this day, and keeps his confident and glamorous clientele coming back for more!
