Inspired by color, costumes, and her own fun-loving wit, she started her fashion line in 1978. Since then, her line has grown to include shoes, handbags, sunglasses, and fragrances, all carrying the funky femininity she is known for. In 2010 her brand was bought by Steve Madden, and today she continues to design a contemporary department store line among other collaborations. In 2015, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Betsey has won the hearts of many with her zany style and lovable personality, and will always be regarded as truly one of a kind!

2010 saw the launch of Fashion’s Night Out - an initiative founded by Vogue Magazine’s Anna Wintour, to help stimulate the lagging economy. The Museum of Art and Design in New York, celebrated former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s understated power with the first ever exhibition of her personal broach collection entitled Read My Pins. Supermodel Naomi Campbell hosts Fashion for Relief in New York, a charity runway show for Haiti victims where celebrities, top models and stylemakers banded together for a worth cause. The year also saw the top talent in fashion honored at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards. In our state of London fashion, the British Fashion Council celebrates 25 years of London Fashion Week. Burberry Prorsum returned to home soil, staging a star-studded show for London Fashion Week’s Silver Jubilee celebration. The Dolce & Gabbana 20th Anniversary collection was so stunning, it brought the audience to tears. Meet the modeling world’s wonder from down under, Aussie stunner Abbey Lee Kershaw. With the Antonini film, Zabriskie Point, serving as inspiration, Raf Simons’ Spring/Summer 2010 collection for Jil Sander was a highlight of Milan Fashion Week. The work of Yves Saint Laurent shown in a retrospective exhibition in Paris was a highlight of the A/W 2010 season. Nineties top model Kristen McMenamy served as muse to design duo, Viktor & Rolf. In February 2010 the fashion community was shocked to hear the tragic news of the death of Alexander McQueen, and a special tribute was paid to the extraordinary designer.

The Dolce & Gabbana 20th Anniversary collection was so stunning, it brought the audience to tears. Meet the modeling world’s wonder from down under, Aussie stunner Abbey Lee Kershaw. Since the launch of his business in 1985, the name Tommy Hilfiger has been synonymous with classic American sportswear. In 1986, he announced his arrival on the New York fashion scene with an irreverent ad campaign comparing himself to top American designers, and by the 90’s he had proven that his brand was on par with the best. His popularity skyrocketed in the 90’s thanks to his famous red, white, and blue logo, and by the 2000’s he had revamped the brand to reach new global heights. In 2012, he won the CFDA’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2016, he launched a design collaboration with supermodel Gigi Hadid. Tommy’s ability to constantly reinvent the classics has solidified his status as an icon in American fashion.
