Amparo Sanchez at the 'Au Fil Des Voix' Festival
After the success of her ensemble Amparanoia with Manu Chao and general praise for her first solo album, the Spanish diva is back with a new show and a new recording, 'Alma de Cantaora'. Amparo Sanchez's new songs reveal her rich sensibility, exploring its many facets. 'The Soul of a Singer' is an invitation to relish the small joys in life. The show, devised and rehearsed in the mountains of Catalonia, Barcelona and the Spanish Basque country, with a superb team of musicians, Spanish and Latin dancers from many horizons, tells the story of a simple life. Spirituality is at the heart of titles celebrating 'Abuela Margarita', a famous Colombian shaman. The arrangements are restrained and largely acoustic, emphasizing the intimate character of the texts. Amparo Sanchez celebrates the Spanish song repertoire with modesty and feeling, and successfully renews the genre. (62 min)
