      • Salif Keita Acoustic at the Carreau du Temple, Paris

Salif Keita Acoustic at the Carreau du Temple, Paris; The 'Golden voice of Africa' was the first artist to perform at the Carreau du Temple, a 'new' Parisian venue, recently reopened after years of neglect. The inaugural concert, recorded on Friday 25 April 2014, was the perfect alliance of diverse cultures, carried by the high and powerful voice of this adoptive 'griot' - Salif Keita is a direct descendent of the Mali Empire's founder, Soundiata Keita - and a historical landmark, elegantly restored. Glass, cast iron, brick and wood have given a new life to this former market hall, whose Eiffel-style nineteenth century metallic structure is so typically Parisian. A historical venue and an artist who has freed himself from tradition and follows his own path. With; Salif Keita, lyrics; Aminata Danté et Bah Kouyaté, lyrics; Mamadou Diabaté, Kora; Souleymane Kouyaté, N'goni; Guy Nwogang, drums; Ousmane Kouyaté, Guitar; Playlist: Katolon; M'Bamba; Tu vas me manquer (I miss you); Yamore; Saranfino; Namanamani; Mandjoue; kanté; Coucou (Hello); Tekere; Recorded at the Carreau du temple on March 2014; TV idrector, Josselin Carré (56 min)

      • Christian McBride's New Jawn - Malta Jazz Festival

Christian McBride's New Jawn; Christian McBride,leader/bass; Nasheet Waits, drums; Marcus Strickland, sax tenor; Josh Evans, trumpet; Powered by a relentless energy and a boundless love of swing, Christian McBride's path has described a continuous positive arc since his arrival on the scene. With a career now blazing into its third decade, the Philadelphia native has become one of the most requested, most recorded, and most respected figures in the music world today. His latest grouping, Christian McBride's New Jawn, is a killer unit, tight, soulful, in the pocket and in the groove. By the way, Jawn is Philly slang to describe just about everything and anything, but most importantly to understand why McBride named his new band so, it is probably this: 'Jawn' is one Philly thing New York can't lay claim to'. Recorded on July 20, 2018 at the Malta Jazz Festival; TV Director, Amos Rozenberg (70 min)

      • Bokanté - Malta Jazz Festival

Bokanté; Malika Tirolien, voice; Michael League, guitar & voice; Chris McQueen, guitar & voice; Bob Lanzetti, guitar; Roosevelt Collier, steel guitar; Jamey Haddad, percussion; Keita Ogawa, percussion; André Ferrari, percussion; An experiment conceived by Snarky Puppy founder and GroundUP Music creator Michael League (who has traded his bass in for a baritone guitar in this group), the process of formation was all but conventional. The music and some of the melodies were written by League, demoed while on tour with other bands, and then sent to Tirolien with lyrical concepts attached. Tirolien then wrote lyrics and melodies, demoing and ping-ponging the new content back to Michael. Many of the musicians had never even met until the first day of recording. By the end of the week-long session in upstate New York's legendary Dreamland Studios, the band felt abnormally cohesive. 'Unity was paramount in the formation of this group,' observed League. 'Though the ensemble is multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and multi-generational, we all feel connected as musicians and people. And in combining our different accents I feel that there is a strangely common and poignant sound, one that can reach and relate to listeners around the world.'; Recorded on July 20, 2018 at the Malta Jazz Festival; TV Director, Amos Rozenberg (58 min)

      • Joao Bosco - Malta Jazz Festival

Joao Bosco, lead, guitar/vocals; Ricardo Silveira, guitar; Guto Wirtti, bass; Kiko Freitas, drums; Joao Bosco has been loved in his home country of Brazil for decades, since the 60s when he first began composing and performing. In the early 90s, Bosco mounted a major tour of the US, and since then he has become increasingly popular internationally, regularly performing at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. Despite his growing popularity outside of his homeland, Bosco remains thoroughly attached to Brazil to the point of never leaving it for extended periods; his music, though rooted in Brazil's classic samba and bossa nova traditions, combines rock and roll, jazz and other ethnic styles in an eclectic brew that is as inventive and challenging as he is. In 2017 Bosco received a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Latin Recording Academy at the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. His new album, Mano Que Zuera, was released at the end of the year. Recorded on July 21, 2018 at the Malta Jazz Festival; TV Director, Amos Rozenberg (82 min)
