      • Christian Sands Trio - Jazz á la Villette

Christian Sands Trio - 'Tribute to Erroll Garner'; Christian Sands (piano); Terreon Gully (guitar); Luques Curtis (bass); Whereas he has just released a really great album, Facing Dragons only a few months ago, the pianist Christian Sands is presenting to kick off the season a new repertoire as a tribute to Erroll Garner: one of the most important figures in the history of jazz, he who established the form of the ' piano trio ' in the modern era, only just before Bill Evans. So he is reaching for a very high goal. And you can bet that the challenge will be met with brio, because the young American is one of the most talented pianists of his generation: protégé of the immense late Billy Taylor, taken on by Christian McBride at 20, recognised by Wynton Marsalis who saw in him one of the grate heirs of the tradition, Christian Sands does actually possess an instrumental language which alludes to the whole history of his instrument, but still succeeds in remaining extremely modern.
