        Keziah Jones; Keziah Jones, vocal, guitar; Joel Grant, bass; Joshua McKenzie, percussion; Keziah Jones was born into a wealthy family in 1968 in Lagos, Nigeria. He was sent to school in England at the age of 8 and he taught himself to play the piano and guitar in London. He gradually created a stunning rhythmic blend of smooth funk, Hendrix-style psychedelia, pure Ikeja reggae and Yoruba harmonies. He called it BluFunk. Keziah Jones hung out English pubs in central London before heading to Paris where he was spotted in the underground in 1991. The album Blufunk Is a Fact and the track Rhythm is Love were international hits. After venturing through the desert of the mid-90s, he struck gold in 2003 with his fourth album Black Orpheus then the unstoppable Nigerian Wood (2008). Keziah completed an ambitious double album in 2013 flitting between Los Angeles, Spain and his kingdoms in London and Lagos. The dandy fighter is well and truly back to win over his audience. Influenced by his father, pianist and vibraphonist, he starts playing saxophone at the age of 12. After stopping by Berklee College of Music of Boston, he joins a quintet of a teacher from his school, Gary Burton, with whom he will tour for a few years. He moves to New York in 1991 and joins the band Steps Ahead. He will play with several more important music ensembles such as the Ken Schaphorst's big band or the Maria Schneider Ahead. In 2005, he joins trumpeter Dave Douglas'quintet. In 2010, he explores for the first time electric, funk, R&B and soul music. Moreover, David Bowie chose Mc Caslin's band to support his very last album Blackstar. In the past years, he was three times nominated for Grammys Awards. The Minneapolis artist admits to being inspired by Marvin Gaye, the producer Flying Lotus and John Coltrane for his stylish blend of what makes up Great Black Music. Flitting between raw soul, soul folk, hip hop and jazz, James is in the microcosm of vocalists capable of keeping the crossover created by Ray Charles in the 50s alive. His first album (The Dreamer, 2008) pays tribute to Martin Luther King. The next one, Blackmagic, features the beatboxer Taylor McFerrin. His fourth album (in the meantime he recorded with Junior Mance, Chico Hamilton, Flying Lotus and the pianist Jef Neve), No Beginning No End, is on Blue Note. The more soulful than ever singer is back with Lean On Me (2018). After leaning on Billie Holiday and John Coltrane, this time he pays tribute to the living legend of American pop and the immense soulman Bill Withers.
