Clark reveals his powers so he can fight Titan but is stunned when he is thrown in the ring with Lois instead.

Claiming Lex kidnapped her missing husband, Jodi threatens to blow up the entire laboratory with Lex inside it unless he tells her where the soldier is. Clark sets out to rescue Lex but is immediately felled by the Kryptonite lining the earthen walls. Lex and Clark realize that the only way they will make it out alive is by helping each other.

        In a special "film noir" episode shot partially in black and white, Jimmy (recurring guest star AARON ASHMORE) sees what life in Smallville would have been like in the 1940s. After a secret meeting with Lionel, Lana is shot at the Daily Planet by a mysterious gunman. Jimmy is knocked unconscious while studying photographs of the scene and dreams about a 1940s version of Smallville. In that reality, Lana is a femme fatale who orchestrated the murder of her tycoon husband, Lex; Clark works at the Daily Planet as a reporter; and Lois is a sultry singer working at a bar owned by Lionel. Meanwhile, in the present day, Clark discovers why Lana married Lex.

        The fifth and final season picks up from the ominous events of last season’s “Letters of Transit” episode, in which the year is 2036 and the overpowering Observers rule. The Fringe team – preserved in amber for 20 years – is now a rebel resistance team fighting for freedom. When Lois goes to Reeves Dam to search for information on Lex's secret laboratory, she is brutally stabbed by a security guard. And Chloe's secret power is finally revealed.
